Inspired by my son James’s 2015 epic 11,000Km cycle journey “The Great Ride” from Brighton, UK to Tehran, in Iran I bought a new bike with a view to doing some trail cycling. Since then I have only managed to cycle around the streets of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula.
I have constantly eyed the ever increasing cycling trails in the South Island as I’ve sped past in my car thinking that “one day I’ll cycle that trail”.
Well the time has come for me to jump on my bike and at least prove to James and myself that I too can do some longer distance cycling; there is no excuse not to give it a go! So here goes.
